Kayleigh Matias - Owner and Founder of Absolute Aerials & Absolute Aerials Accredited
Kayleigh grew up on the Sunshine Coast where she took dance classes at Sunshine Dance Centre from the age of 3. As she began to dance, Kayleigh discovered a strong passion for movement and the performing arts excelling in performances, eisteddfods and exams. Kayleigh undertook a range of dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary and completed all Royal Academy of Dance exams in their graded syllabus, along with completing the intermediate level of their vocational syllabus with a distinction grade.
It was around this time Kayleigh discovered the Flying Trapeze! She has now been a professional trapeze artist for 5 years performing in corporate shows for renowned resorts, functions and also with Circus Joseph Ashton (Cirque Extreme) in WA and Burtons Circus. Kayleigh discovered a further passion for Aerials and travelled to the Gold Coast every week for over a year to train. Her commitment to aerials and becoming a professional in the field meant moving to the gold coast where she trained, coached and performed for Aerial Artistry a company renowned for its quality, technique and breathtaking shows.
Kayleigh now lives on the Sunshine Coast to be closer to her family. Kayleigh decided to bring the circus (specifically aerials) closer to home so she can have the best of both worlds! Kayleigh takes trips to America when she can to develop her skills and share these with Absolute Aerials. She takes classes from leading performers who had been or were in shows such as Cirque Du Soleil! Kayleigh brings her discipline, grace and technique learnt in ballet to her aerial shows creating a jaw dropping, elegant display of strength and beauty. Kayleigh is always commended for her bodylines and audience connection making her shows that little bit more special!
Kayleigh began to add latin dance to her repertoire in 2017 under the guidance of her partner Magno Matias. anouk
Anouk is on of our amazing coaches and completed our first Absolute Aerials Teacher training Course in 2019!
Anouk started gymnastics when she was 8 years old and trained until she developed a shoulder injury. Upon recovery she returned to gymnastics, however she never trained it consistently as the environment wasn't right for her. Anouk moved on to train calesthenics dance before finding aerials! Anouk says, "Aerials for me is the perfect balance between gymnastics and dance with sprinkles of circus!" Anouk started at Absolute Aerials in 2017 and fell in love after her first lesson. She has won 1st Place in the 2022 La Folie competition in the elite silk solo division! "Learning to fly is everyone's dream and I am luck enough i can make it come true with my training. I love seeing my students faces light up as they get a new trick, their smile makes my day!"
